FAQs

How much dust can we expect?

Our floor sanding equipment is top of the line, capturing 98% of all dust emitted by the built-in vacuum system. In some situations, for example uneven floors, a slightly higher percentage of dust may be generated. However, to combat dust-emission we regularly vacuum the floor during the sanding process, and clean up very thoroughly before we apply floor finishes. If required we can tape up doors to other rooms and cupboards etc.

How much will it cost to sand my wood floors?

The cost will vary depending on a number of factors such as: the size of your floor, the current state of your floor and whether any repairs will be necessary, any pre-preparation work that we need to do such as removing tacks, nails, carpet etc, and finally the type of floor finish to be used and the number of coat applications.

Some of our floor boards are loose can they be fixed or refitted?

Yes. If your floor boards are loose we will ensure they are secured and stable and nails countersunk. If your floorboards are rotten or beyond repair we will replace them with boards as close as possible in style and age to your original boards.

Should I empty the room before you begin?

Yes please. We would appreciate if you could remove any furniture and have the room cleared prior to work starting. However, if due to a disablity you are unable to do this, we will be able to assist. Or if the furniture needs moving round the room as we work (for example it simply cannot be removed) this would necessitate the job being completed in two halves, which would obviously have an extra labour cost as it would take longer to complete job. This would all be factored into the price.

How long does the re-furbishing process take?

This depends on a number of factors including the number of rooms and state of the existing flooring. However, an average sized room, with boards in relatively good condition, should take a couple of days to complete. We will explain to you before the job begins how long your particular project will take to complete.
